THEY RAISE AID FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Social assistance, which is paid monthly to people with disabilities in our country under the Law on People with Disabilities, will increase by 4.3% from next year.
Thus, its specific amount will vary from BGN 25.41 for people with between 50% and 70.99% degree of disability to BGN 206.91 for people with over 90% degree of disability entitled to foreign assistance who receive social disability pension.
The increase in aid is due to the increase in the poverty line in Bulgaria, the size of which is expected to be BGN 363 next year.
By law, financial support for people with disabilities is a fixed percentage of the amount set as the poverty line.
As of September 30, 2019, nearly 650,000 people received monthly financial support under the Disability Act, which is about 150,000 more than the number of people who received monthly supplements under the repealed Disability Integration Act .
At a meeting held, the National Council for People with Disabilities adopted a report on the Plan for the Implementation of the National Strategy for People with Disabilities for the period 2016-2018.
The plan for the implementation of the strategic document in 2019 and 2020 was also approved.
It envisages measures and activities to improve the access of people with disabilities to public and residential buildings, financing projects for the initiation and launch of independent business activities, stimulating employers to create better conditions for workers with reduced working capacity.
